The Shibuya Cultural Center Owada opened as a center for cultural, educational, health, welfare, and other civic activities in November 2010. It offers a place where people can exhibit, view, or participate in various kinds of cultural events. The center has small and mediumsized auditoriums, a planetarium, library, and other facilities. Please be sure to visit the center.


Cosmo Planetarium Shibuya (12F)

The facility is equipped with a planetarium projector and digital full-sky image projection system whose images give viewers the feeling of being under a lovely starry sky. With topics from space and Earth to life and culture, the facility offers enjoyment for everyone from kids to seniors. 120 seats

Hours: Tuesday to Friday, 12 noon to 8:00 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays, 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

This facility provides support for the development of young personnel active in the field of fashion design. There are work spaces, galleries, and halls where shows can be staged. Fashion design from Shibuya will be publicized to the world.

Shibuya Women's Center Iris (8F)

This facility serves as a center for studies, activities, and interaction meant to resolve various issues toward the goal of achieving gender equality in society.

Densho Hall (6F)

This auditorium is suitable for a broad range of stage performances, from traditional performing arts to modern theater. The hall is equipped with a hanamichi (extra-long platform) and apron stage as well as box seats that evoke a feeling of closeness to the stage. 343 seats (including 92 box seats) Two seats for wheelchair users

This auditorium is equipped with highly dignified acoustic performance and excellent utility, making it appropriate for music. The adjustable stage can be used for concerts, operas, ballets, or theater. 733 seats (The second floor is balcony style.) Two seats for wheelchair users

Science Center for Children Hachilabo (3F)

Science, technology, and math programs that offer extracurricular activities in the form of scientific experiments and club events will be offered in cooperation with universities and research organizations, encouraging children's scientific thinking and interest in making things. Additionally, support for municipal elementary and junior high schools, including schools placing emphasis on math and sciences, will be offered.
Hours: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In cooperation with the Science Center for Children, the planetarium, and other facilities, the library offers a full range of materials in related fields.
Hours: Monday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sundays and national holidays, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Closed: 2nd and 4th Monday of the month, Tuesdays of the previous week of 2nd and 4th, 2nd Thursday of the month (the following regular weekday if a national holiday falls on Monday), and inventory periods

Learning Center (2F)

This center for studies, conferences, and other cultural activities has a crafts room equipped with a pottery kiln, classrooms (including one with kitchen facilities), and Owada Gallery, where artwork can be exhibited. Along with facility rentals for cultural activities and community interaction, the center offers classrooms that can be used for various programs of the Senior Iki-Iki Daigaku Office (Tel: 03-3464-5171). Further, there is a school history gallery, which preserves the history of the former Owada Elementary School in perpetuity.

Health Center Sakuragaoka (1F)

This health center offers a full range of care, including cancer checkups provided by the Shibuya Medical Association (Tel: 03-3462-2200) and vaccinations, and provides medical services on evenings and holidays. A mammography unit and CT scanner have been newly installed in an effort to offer an enhanced community medical system.
Hours: Cancer checkups: Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Times vary according to type of checkup.) Medical services on evenings and holidays: Saturdays, 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Sundays, national holidays, and during the year-end/New Year holidays: 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Vaccinations: Tuesdays, 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Sakura Jyogu Nursery School (Main Entrance Floor)

In an effort to offer an improved environment for bringing up children, this facility has a playground on the sunny south side and meets a variety of day care needs.

Multipurpose Arena (B1)

The facility has space for either one basketball or volleyball court or three badminton courts and can be used for numerous community health promotion activities and building stamina.
