Shibuya Peace-International City Day

To further develop its potential as an international city, the Shibuya municipal government actively promotes ties among city residents and people of other countries, and the further development of Shibuya as a city of peace.
In 2002, to mark the beginning of the 21st century, Shibuya adopted an ordinance designating October 1, the anniversary day of the city's establishment, as "Shibuya, International City of Peace Day." Through this ordinance, Shibuya declared its intention to become an International City of Peace and Culture, with the support of all city residents imbued with a strong sense of the value of local government initiatives.
