Regarding the H1N1 influenza, we are in a new stage after the first case was confirmed in Kobe on May 16, 2009.
In response to the recent condition, Shibuya City has been tackling this issue to prevent its domestic spread in partnership with related institutions. We have swiftly established the Health Crisis Management Office on April 28, 2009, set up Shibuya City Fever Consultation Center (phone: 03-3463-2416), and followed up on health conditions of returners and visitors from abroad. Many patients have recovered from this flu with appropriate treatment at earlier stage. So, we need to be calm and rational.
As we inform you in the extra edition of “Shibuya-Ku News” issued on May 20, the followings are the recommended steps to prevent infection:
- Wash your hands and gargle often
- Wear a mask
- Well-balanced diet and take an adequate rest
- Pay attention to the latest news on TV and/or in the newspapers.
If this flu was confirmed in Shibuya City, the elementary schools, junior high schools, kindergartens, nursery schools, and welfare facilities might have a possibility to be closed. Furthermore, we might request events and business operations in the city to cancel or adjourn. We truly appreciate your understandings and cooperation.
Further information will be provided by Shibuya-Ku News or e-mail service for prevention from the infection. Your calm response with correct knowledge will be appreciated.
